𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

– 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺

The Men’s Unit of the Martha Tubman Memorial United Methodist Church has officially inducted a new corps of officers to steer the affairs of the Unit for the next two years, with a renewed commitment to reform, service, and spiritual growth. Those Officers installed include Fth. Thomas P. Johnson, President, Fth. Christopher Hansford, Vice President for Administration, Fth. Antoine Deline, Vice President for Operations, Fth. Darlington N. Konkah, Secretary General, and Fth. James Kollie, Treasurer.

The induction ceremony was held on Sunday December 21, 2025, at the church’s edifice in Paynesville City, where the induction officer Mr. J. Maxwell Bindah Sr., Paynesville City Corporation City Manager, admonished the newly installed leadership to govern with humanity, respect, humility, and dedication to service.

The well-attended ceremony brought together the Monrovia District Men’s Organization President and Vice President-Elect, Fth. Garison Bailey and Fth. Morris Cleon, along with several senior advisors and distinguished guests, including Fth. Powo C. Hilton, Fth. Roland Dahn and Mth. Dahn, and Fth. Joseph T. Giddings Sr., among others.

Delivering the sermon, Associate Shepherding Pastor Rev. Richard Wreh preached on the theme “No to Self and Yes to Service”, drawing his text from Romans 4:3–8. He challenged the new leadership to work selflessly in the service of God and to embrace humility as a core principle of leadership.

After taking the oath of office, the newly inducted President, Fth. Thomas P. Johnson, in his inaugural address, expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him and paid tribute to past leaders who upheld the values and Christian witness of the Men’s Unit.

President Johnson outlined a bold vision for the Unit, emphasizing rebranding—not merely in name or appearance, but in purpose, passion, and impact. He stressed the need to strengthen brotherhood through prayer, the study of God’s Word, discipleship, mentorship, accountability, and active service.

“Our mission is to restore and enhance spiritual growth, ensuring that every man feels encouraged, equipped, and empowered to live out his faith both within the church and the wider community,” he said. He further underscored the importance of rebuilding a strong sense of belonging where all men feel welcomed, valued, and connected, regardless of age, status, or background.

President Johnson called on members to join him in unity as the Men’s Unit seeks to “rescue the perishing, care for the hurting, strengthen the weak, and lead by example in our families, church, and society.”

During the program, several individuals were honored and presented certificates in recognition of their years of dedicated service to the Men’s Unit.

Speaking at the close of the program, Inaugural Committee Chair Fth. John M. Gray thanked members, guests, and partners for contributing to the success of the induction ceremony. He was commended for the organization and uniqueness of the event and was subsequently appointed Program Committee Chairman of the Men’s Unit. Additionally, Fth. Robert Haynes was appointed Project Chair and Chief Strategist.

The induction ceremony marked a significant milestone in the life of the Men’s Unit as it embarks on a renewed path of faith-driven leadership and service.
