-As Winner of Nimba County Senatorial By-election

SANNIQUELLIE CITY, NIMBA COUNTY — The National Elections Commission (NEC) has certificated Samuel S. Korga winner of the just-ended April 22, 2025, Senatorial By-election in Nimba County.
The Commission held the certification ceremony Friday, May 2, 2025 at the Sanniquellie City Hall in Sanniquellie, Nimba County.
Presenting the certificate to the Nimba County Senator-elect, NEC Chairperson, Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah reiterated that the April 22, 2025 by-election was successful.
Chairperson Lansanah said the Commission certification of the winner of the Senatorial By-election is backed by the revised elections law and the Liberian Constitution.
Madam Browne Lansanah reaffirmed the NEC’s commitment to conduct free, fair, credible, and transparent elections throughout Liberia.
She said the successful conduct of the 22 April 2025 Senatorial By-elections is a clear indication of the Commission’s desire to conduct free, fair, credible, and transparent elections in the Country.
NEC Chairperson Davidetta Browne Lansanah meanwhile thanked the Government of Liberia for its unwavering and sustained support of the electoral process.
She also expressed thanks to all political parties, independent candidates, and all those who participated in the by-elections.
She also thanked the NEC’s temporary and permanent staff who spent tireless hours to ensure that the April 22, 2025 Senatorial By-election was conducted as prescribed by law.
Additionally, she thanked the Ministry of Justice under whose direction the Joint Security worked to ensure a good environment for the conduct of the elections.
The NEC remains a credible electoral authority managing public elections for the Liberian people in line with the Law of Liberia and International Best Practices.
As an independent electoral management body created by the constitution, the NEC is committed to strengthening democracy and sustainable peace by managing free, fair, transparent, and timely elections for the Liberian people.
Responding to the certification, Senator Samuel S. Kogar said his election and subsequent certification began a transition from one democratic government to another.
He thanked the Almighty God for his grace and blessing. He also thanked the National Elections Commission for the mature, smooth, and transparent election conducted.
Senator Kogar described his victory as a mandate from Nimbaians to reform the county through unity. “Our mandate is to reconcile and unify the people of Nimba. No tribal politics and division. Everyone will be given equal opportunity and social equity; our mandate is to accommodate all those ready to work for peace and progress in my leadership of inclusion; our mandate is to ensure honesty and efficiency in public service, to make public service what it is meant to be, and not a place for the accumulation of public wealth, but a place to serve,” the Senator pointed out.
The event presided over by the NEC Board of Commissioners on Friday, 2 May at the Sanniquellie City Hall, brought together guests from diverse backgrounds including political parties, election stakeholders, county officials of Nimba, among others.
