NIMBA COUNTY — The Rural Universities and Colleges Faculty Association of Liberia — RUCFAL has signed a policy framework document, commiting to standard reform and equal benefits for all government higher academic institutions across Liberia.

In a historic atmosphere and spirit of jubilation on Saturday, June 7, 2025 on the campus of the Nimba University in Sanniquellie, RUCFAL’s esteemed members adopted and signed the organization’s Article of Incorporation and Bylaws aimed at fostering renew hope, constructive ideas and actions, both within government-run colleges and universities in rural Liberia.

RUCFAL, an august body of professionals in the academia intends to hold government accountable, advocate for equal and fair treatment as well as seek protection and benefits for all rural universities and colleges’ faculties compare to other public institutions of higher learning in urban region.

The policy framework documentation serves as an instrument to safeguard governance in Liberia’s higher academic institutions — a move drift at advocating for faculties’ livelihoods and welfares, ensure cordial working environment and as well as assist in the establishment of standard payroll structures and procedures in Liberia’s higher institutions of learning.

Speaking during the historic adoption and signing of its Article of Incorporation and Bylaws, RUCFAL President and lecture of Lofa County Community College, Varney Addy emphasized the association’s shared commitment to standardizing Liberia education system, particularly higher institutions in rural Liberia.

Addy called for unity and collaboration among Presidents and faculty associations of public universities and colleges for share resources and expertise aimed at enhancing academic experiences of students and drive meaningful change in Liberia higher educational institutions.

He encouraged active participation in advocating for necessary reforms in higher education to foster academic excellence, professional growth, and sustainable development across Liberia, viewing it as an opportunity to fully commit to the mission of RUCFAL and champion education in Liberia.
RUCFAL President motivated his fellow colleagues and members of RUCFAL to maintain their enthusiasm and expressed RUCFAL’S eagerness to collaborate in building a brighter future for students and Liberia.

Committing to Uplifting Education Standards in Liberia, RUCFAL President assured that their union demonstrates a shared commitment to improving education standards in Liberia, especially in rural areas. He noted that this movement signifies a collective step towards transforming higher education in the country.

Addy further pledged his leadership’s rebust support to collaboratively address challenges in rural tertiary institutions to provide students with quality education.
RUCFAL first elected president also vowed joining forces, sharing resources, and harnessing combined expertise to improve tertiary institutions and academic experiences in Liberia At same time, he highlighted that together, they can drive meaningful change that resonates beyond campuses to reach the communities they serve — advocating for Reforms in Higher Education.

Addy encouraged taking active roles in advocating for necessary reforms in higher education for and on behalf of government higher academic institutions of learning in the country. RUCFAL President stated that by doing so, they can create an enabling environment that fosters academic excellence, professional growth, and sustainable development across Liberia — seizing this movement as an opportunity to fully commit to the mission of Rural University and Colleagues Association of Liberia (RUCFAL) and champion the course of education in Liberia.

Looking Forward to a Brighter Future, RUCFAL President encouraged members and professional colleagues to keep the fire burning — noting that RUCFAL looks forward to working alongside members of public universities and colleges faculties to build a brighter future for students and Liberia. He concluded that RUCFAL stands for its code value to advocate for member universities and colleges fair benefits and necessary reforms in higher education, committing fully to the mission of RUCFAL to champion education in Liberia to international standard.
