Barclay Training Center, Monrovia – Major (Dr.) Albertha J.N. Clark-Kollie has-been awarded the prestigious Medical Practitioner of the Year 2025 by the Arise Africa Organization at the 14 Military Hospital on June 12, 2025. The honor recognizes her exceptional contributions to medical advancement not only in Liberia but across ECOWAS member states and the African continent.
The Arise Africa Organization, a youth-led platform dedicated to fostering patriotism and development across the continent, selected Dr. Clark-Kollie for her transformative leadership in Liberia’s healthcare sector. As the first female general surgeon in the Armed Forces of Liberia and the current Commander and Medical Director of the 14 Military Hospital in Margibi County, she has become a symbol of professional excellence and national service.
With over eight years of clinical experience, Dr. Clark-Kollie has played a pivotal role in strengthening both military and civilian healthcare systems. Under her leadership, the 14 Military Hospital has emerged as one of Liberia’s leading medical institutions, combining administrative efficiency with high-quality surgical care. Beyond her clinical work, she has been a driving force in national health policy, advocating for the full implementation of Liberia’s National Health Action Plan with particular emphasis on combating malaria through systemic approaches that address poverty and governance challenges.
Her influence extends into pharmaceutical regulation as an active member of the Liberia Pharmacy Board and into professional advocacy as former President of the Liberia Medical and Dental Association, where she championed physicians’ rights and welfare. Dr. Clark-Kollie’s commitment to international collaboration was demonstrated in January 2024 when she facilitated the SURGE medical team’s work at her hospital, enhancing burn care management through knowledge exchange between Liberian and foreign specialists.
The award ceremony drew senior representatives from the Ministry of National Defense and the Armed Forces of Liberia, reflecting the institution’s pride in her achievements. In honoring Dr. Clark-Kollie, Arise Africa highlighted how her career embodies their mission to inspire Africans toward excellence and service.
