NIMBA COUNTY — As the academic year 2025/2026 draws closer, Girl Power Africa has begun receiving and packing donors’ support to school-children and as well as women empowerment supplies in Liberia.

Girl Power Africa, a non-profit organization founded by Bulleh Bablitch-Norkeh and the late Dr. Frederick B. Norkeh and partners in the diaspora is dedicated to empowering women and children in the country.

Founded in 2017, Girl Power Africa (GPA) invasions provide opportunities for education and entrepreneurship, aiming to alleviate increased poverty, limited educational access, and economic challenges faced by all of Liberia’s population but felt most deeply by single women and children.

GPA-founder, Madam Bulleh Bablitch-Norkeh upon receipt of donations enthusiastically applauded kindhearted donors in the U.S and other countries who have signaled a commitment to GPA’s “Keep-Kids” in school and empowering women programs — restating Girl Power Africa’s commitment to Early Childhood Education (ECE) and empowering women to make an impact in the future of their communities.

Together, with funding from local and international donors and sponsors, the timely contributions will help save up to hundreds of thousands of children whose parents cannot afford to acquire education.

Madam Norkeh, in a heartfelt appreciation,  acknowledged all donors and sponsors for their important contributions to GPA’s shared vision and called for increased collaboration to educate, equip, and empower people most in need.

Madam Norkeh bestowed emotional gratitude, recognizing major donors and sponsors who support Girl Power Africa’s work each year.

She highlighted Girl Power Africa’s journey of transformation impacting women and children  — making a difference in accelerating growth and gender equality in the region.

Madam Norkeh said: “Meet Marlyn, a bright and determined 14 year old who just joined the Girl Power Africa program this year — and is already showing us what resilience and hard work look like.

Marlyn is currently in the first grade, having started school later than most children her age due to financial hardship. She lives with her unemployed grandmother, who couldn’t afford to consistently send Marlyn or her siblings to school.”

But despite the late start, Marlyn is thriving. She listens attentively, works hard in her lessons, and dreams of becoming a teacher one day. At home, Marlyn helps care for her siblings and cooks for the family, balancing her responsibilities with her studies. Her dedication and perseverance are an inspiration to her classmates and community.

“Thank you to the Bablitch/Kelch Philanthropy Fund for sponsoring Marlyn and helping her begin her educational journey. Your support is planting seeds of hope and possibility in her life!

By fostering women’s self-sufficiency through providing quality education for children and entrepreneurship for women, Girl Power Africa seeks to break the cycle of poverty and create lasting positive change for those most affected by these crises.

Girl Power Africa — GPA is committed to empowering women and children in Liberia by providing opportunities for education and entrepreneurship.

Through collaboration — GPA inspired partners and mobilize individuals to advocate for change. By fostering local partnerships, it shares expertise, drive job creation, highlighting sustainable impact and inspiring communities to take action and make a difference.

On November 6, 2024, the non-profit institution paid about fourteen babies’ mothers’ medical bills amid appealing calls and concerns having being detained for unpaid hospital bills at Ganta United Methodist Hospital. In a display of humanity beyond words, the founder of Girl Power Africa, Mrs. Bulleh Norkeh released the babies’ mothers to leave the hospital to go home when she presented a huge sum of cash to the hospital management.
