The Liberia Peacebuilding Office through it’s Executives has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) a peacebuilding organization from South Korea with the objective of establishing partnership in conducting peace education in several institutions across the country.
The MOU signed between the Liberia Peacebuilding Office and HWPL- South Korea is geared towards strengthening a strategic partnership towards implementing peace education in secondary schools across the country.
The ceremony was held on Friday, July 3, 2025, at the PBO/Ministry of Internal Affairs, with its Executive Director, Sheikh S. S. Kamara signing on behalf of the Liberia Peacebuilding Office, and Jang Semin, Chief Branch Manager, HWPL – Liberia signed on behalf of HWPL.
The MOU establishes partnership with Peacebuilding to conduct peace project activities by promoting peace, harmony, and development through peace education in schools.
HWLP is the Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light. It is a non-profit NGO registered in Seoul, South Korea. It aims to build a new generation of peace across the globe.
Speaking at the ceremony PBO Executive Director Sheikh S. S. Kamara lauded the efforts of HWLP for recognizing Liberia among other African nations, as a selected nation for the implementation of the project.
According to him, Liberia is still at a point where more awareness is needed to admonish the young generation about the importance of peace in the country, recognizing the emphasis of peace education for pupils.
The Liberia Peacebuilding Office has the broad mandate of providing conflict sensitivity analysis on the government’s development policies and addressing the root causes and potential triggers of conflict in the country as well as building the capacity of peace structures to prevent and amicably resolve conflicts. The PBO further develops programs and strategies, and facilitates peacebuilding, coordination, and coherence to measure the cumulative impact of Peacebuilding in the country.
