-In District #5, Bong County

The Clan Chief of Waynifah Town in Yellequlleh Administrative District, Bong County Electoral District #5, Madam Esther Younger Keleekai, has raised alarm over the destructive impact of unregulated resource extraction on the townโs infrastructure, particularly its roads.
In a statement, Madam Keleekai lamented the deteriorating condition of roads in Waynifah due to the constant movement of heavy-duty equipment used in the unauthorized extraction of natural resources.
According to her, instead of benefiting from shared resource revenues, the town has suffered increased damage and stagnation due to the lack of regulation and oversight.
She criticized the absence of proper enforcement mechanisms, noting that the community has received little to no benefits while its infrastructure continues to crumble under the weight of unregulated exploitation.
However, in a recent development, Madam Keleekai announced that heavy-duty equipment transporting goods and resources through Waynifah will now be subject to regulation.
This decision has brought a wave of relief to residents who have long expressed concerns about safety risks and environmental damage caused by the unchecked operations.
She further revealed that construction of a new road is already underway, signaling the beginning of tangible development for the area. The new infrastructure is expected to not only improve transportation efficiency but also create new economic opportunities for the people of Waynifah.
Madam Keleekai concluded by expressing optimism that the town is now beginning to reap the true benefits of its natural resources, with residents welcoming the new measures and construction projects as a positive turning point for their community.
