– In Grand Cape Mount

JENEWONDE TOWN, Tewor District – In a move to honor a political predecessor and spur local development, Grand Cape Mount County Senator Dabah M. Varpilah has commenced the construction of a $28,000 modern guest house in Jenewonde Town. The project, funded by the Senator and implemented by Seimavula Construction Company, is dedicated to the memory of the late Senator Edward Boakai Dagoseh.
The new facility is designed to serve as a hospitality center for visitors and a lasting tribute to Senator Dagoseh’s legacy of public service and commitment to community development in Grand Cape Mount County.
Speaking at a well-attended groundbreaking ceremony, Senator Varpilah framed the project as a continuation of the work begun by those who came before her. “This guest house is more than a building; it is a symbol of our continued commitment to the progress of Grand Cape Mount,” she stated. “We are here to build upon the strong foundation laid by dedicated leaders like Senator Dagoseh, ensuring their vision for a stronger, more connected county endures.”
The initiative has been met with enthusiasm from local residents, who anticipate both immediate economic benefits during construction and long-term advantages from having a dedicated facility for guests and community events.
“We are truly proud to see our leaders honoring our late Senator in such a meaningful and permanent way,” said Mr. Ansu Kawah, a community elder in Jenewonde. “This project brings not just a new building, but hope and opportunity for our town.”
The groundbreaking in Tewor District capped a broader tour of ongoing development initiatives spearheaded by Senator Varpilah across the county.
Earlier, she conducted inspections of several key projects in Porkpa District, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to county-wide development. The inspected projects include:
Damballa City Hall: A $45,000 project currently 60% complete.
Bust Convert Bridge: A $3,000 project now 99% complete.
Baakah Bridge: A $40,000 project connecting Gbanga and Baaka, also 99% complete.
These projects, with a combined investment of $78,000, are being executed by Cape Mount-owned construction firms, with Beacom Engineering and Development Company leading the work on the bridges and city hall.
