
MONROVIA – The House of Representatives of Liberia’s 55th Legislature is set to officially open its Third Quarter Session this Friday, October 10, 2025, riding a wave of legislative momentum from a highly productive previous term.
The ceremonial opening will commence at 8:00 a.m. with the hoisting of the national flag—a symbol of the body’s renewed commitment to its democratic duties. This will be followed at 10:00 a.m. by a formal procession of lawmakers to the Chamber, marking the official start of the new session.
Upon convening, the House’s agenda will move swiftly to business. The Chief Clerk, Mildred Sayon, will conduct the official roll call, after which the Honorable Speaker, Richard Nagbe Koon, will deliver the opening address. This speech is anticipated to outline the legislative priorities and key expectations for the critical months ahead, setting the tone for the House’s work.
In a statement, the House Press Bureau underscored that the opening ceremony reflects the institution’s dedication to “transparency, accountability, and its constitutional mandate to serve the Liberian people.”

From May 13 to July 18, 2025, the House held 24 sittings, demonstrating a rigorous schedule of work that included 19 regular sessions, three executive sessions, and two special sittings.
The Honorable House of Representatives of the 55th Legislature of the Republic of Liberia adjourned its second quarter session, which ran from May 13 to July 18, 2025, after a productive period of legislative activity that saw the passage of 43 bills and resolutions. During the quarter, the House held a total of 24 sittings, comprising 19 regular sessions, three executive sessions, and two special sittings, reflecting a robust schedule of deliberations and oversight.
A total of 43 bills and resolutions were passed by the House, demonstrating significant legislative output. These included 19 bills originating from the House itself, 11 executive bills submitted by the President, and 12 bills that originated in the Senate. Additionally, one resolution was adopted during the period.
