Monrovia – The leadership of the Unity Party (UP) has announced a major national initiative aimed at strengthening the party’s political structure, expanding its membership base, and building lasting institutional capacity across Liberia.

Speaking on behalf of the party’s leadership, a senior executive declared that the Unity Party is committed to laying “a strong and reliable foundation of political vibrancy” that will secure its position as Liberia’s most enduring democratic institution.

“The Liberian people have been good to us. History has shown that the Unity Party is the only political institution in Liberia’s history to leave state power and return with determination to confront the perennial challenges facing our nation,” the statement read.

The spokesperson traced Liberia’s political evolution, noting that past ruling parties — including the True Whig Party, the National Democratic Party of Liberia (NDPL), and the National Patriotic Party (NPP) — each lost state power and never returned. In contrast, the Unity Party, after losing the 2017 elections, maintained its commitment to peace and democracy, eventually regaining power through resilience and strategic political alignment.

“When everyone thought the Unity Party had died, our resilience and political maturity catapulted us back to state power. God has been good to the Unity Party,” the statement added. The party reaffirmed its confidence in the leadership of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., and emphasized that before the end of his mandate, the Unity Party would remain the most trusted political institution for Liberians.

Building a Future for Generations

As part of the new agenda, the Unity Party aims to expand its membership to four million Liberians, construct a modern national headquarters, and establish offices in all 73 districts across the country. “It is time to build a grand and dynamic political powerhouse for today and for future generations,” the party declared.

Homecoming and Fundraising Program

To achieve these ambitious goals, the Unity Party has announced its Homecoming and Fundraising Program, slated for December 6, 2025, under the theme: “Positioning the Unity Party for Long Term Political Vibrancy, Policy Reform, Infrastructural Development, and Membership Drive.”

Senator Dabah M. Varpilah, First Vice Chairperson of the Unity Party, has been appointed Chairperson of the National Steering Committee, which will oversee the planning and execution of the program. The committee is tasked with providing strategic direction, ensuring alignment with the party’s objectives, and mobilizing partisans and supporters—especially those who may have become inactive—to reengage in party activities.

The National Steering Committee includes several prominent members such as Jeror Cole Bangalu (Co-chair), Mohammed Kromah, Prince K. Moye, Amin Modad, Magdalene E. Dagoseh, Neto Z. Lighe, Cornelia Kruah, Whroway Bryant, and Clarence Massaquoi, among others.

Three key subcommittees have also been constituted:

Fundraising Committee – Headed by Partisan Cornelia Kruah, tasked with mobilizing resources for the national and county headquarters projects, and coordinating fundraising drives across all 15 counties. Media and Publicity Committee – Led by Partisan Mo Ali, responsible for managing the program’s communications, public relations, and media outreach.

Mobilization and Recruitment Committee – Chaired by Partisan Whroway Bryant, focused on grassroots engagement, new membership drives, and reactivating inactive partisans. County-level committees have also been established, chaired by senior Unity Party lawmakers and officials across the 15 counties, including Senators Prince Moye (Bong), Nya Twayen (Nimba), Clarence Massaquoi (Lofa), Dabah Varpilah (Grand Cape Mount), and others.

The national leadership has empowered subcommittee heads to co-opt additional members to ensure smooth coordination and effective execution of the program. In closing, the party reaffirmed its determination to “build visible infrastructures, foster inclusivity, and prepare the Unity Party for long-term political vibrancy.” “This is the time,” the statement concluded.
