—Institution earns Compliance Status After Intensive National Review Process

Gonet Academy CEO, Mohammed Kerkulah, displays the newly acquired MOE accreditation
Gonet Academy has formally received a Certificate of Accreditation from the Ministry of Education, after successfully completing the Ministry’s new national accreditation process for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. The accreditation marks a major milestone in the institution’s development and in Liberia’s broader effort to strengthen the quality and credibility of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.
The accreditation—issued on November 5, 2025—came after Gonet Academy successfully completed the Ministry’s newly introduced national TVET accreditation process, a framework designed to standardize technical education and enhance workforce readiness across the country. It follows rigorous assessment, verification, and institutional review conducted by the Center of Excellence for Education Administration, Certification, Accreditation & Licensing (CEEACAL) and the Ministry’s technical departments.
The certificate, signed by the Deputy Minister for Instruction and the Assistant Minister for TVET, Special & Inclusive Education, affirms that Gonet Academy has “met all required criteria, standards, and benchmarks” and is fully authorized to deliver Advanced TVET programs. The accreditation is valid for one year and renewable after an annual institutional review.
A New Era of TVET Accountability—and Gonet’s Longstanding Compliance
The 2025 accreditation exercise is part of an ambitious national overhaul of Liberia’s TVET governance system. For years, institutions operating in this sector worked under multiple regulatory frameworks that were gradually being harmonized. The Ministry’s restructuring in 2024—which temporarily paused renewals for all institutions—was intended to create a unified, transparent, and internationally aligned standard for vocational and industrial training.
Against this backdrop, Gonet Academy maintained uninterrupted legal standing.
In June 2022, the Ministry of Education issued its first formal recognition to Gonet Academy under its parent institution, GonetAfrica, Inc. That recognition remained valid through 2023; renewal delays were caused not by institutional fault, but by the 2023 General and Presidential Elections and subsequent government transitions. In 2024, when the Ministry temporarily suspended all certifications pending reform, Gonet Academy received an official Letter of Authorization from the government’s Agricultural & Industrial Training Bureau (AITB), reaffirming its legitimacy and granting continuous operational rights.
This record, MOE officials noted privately, helped strengthen the institution’s compliance standing during the new accreditation review.
Inside the Rigorous Assessment Process
The new TVET accreditation system, administered jointly by the Ministry of Education and the Center of Excellence for Education Administration, Certification, Accreditation & Licensing (CEEACAL), evaluates institutions across several dimensions of quality and compliance.
Gonet Academy underwent a comprehensive assessment that included verification of legal status, governance structure, and administrative systems; Evaluation of classroom facilities, instructional environments, and equipment; Review of curricula, training methodologies, and learning materials.
Others include the assessment of facilitator qualifications and HR compliance, and inspection of student welfare policies, grievance procedures, and safeguarding systems; Verification of financial compliance, including tax obligations and government fees, and examination of quality assurance frameworks and institutional data management. Following these multi-stage evaluations, CEEACAL and the MOE concluded that Gonet Academy meets the full standards required for Advanced TVET accreditation.
“A confirmation of our integrity and commitment”
Gonet Academy’s Founder and Chief Empowerment Officer, Mohammed Kerkulah, welcomed the accreditation as both validation and motivation.
“This accreditation is a powerful confirmation of Gonet Academy’s commitment to quality, integrity, and national standards,” he said. “Even before the new system was launched, we operated with full government authorization—from our recognition in 2022 to our AITB authorization in 2024. This new certification shows that our systems, curriculum, facilities, and governance meet Liberia’s highest benchmarks.”
Kerkulah praised the Ministry of Education for what he described as “a forward-thinking TVET reform agenda” and reaffirmed Gonet Academy’s commitment to producing a competent and competitive national workforce.
With its accreditation under the new framework, Gonet Academy is poised to deepen its contributions to workforce development and youth skills transformation—key pillars of the Boakai Administration’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID).
The Academy’s programs directly support government’s AAID Pillar 6: Human Capital Development, UN SDG 4: Quality, Equitable & Inclusive Education, UN SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth, AU Agenda 2063: Skills Revolution & Youth Empowerment, and ECOWAS Vision 2050: Human-Centered Development.
The institution offers certificate, diploma, and advanced TVET programs that equip learners with practical, job-ready competencies demanded across emerging industries. As Liberia strengthens its national TVET ecosystem, Gonet Academy aims to serve as a model for quality-driven, student-centered technical education.
