The Honorable House of Representatives announces that the its Committee on Ways, Means, and Finance in collaboration with the Committee on Public Accounts and Expenditure, will formally begin hearings on the Expenditure Component of the Draft National Budget for Fiscal Year 2026 on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

According to a release from the Press and Public Affairs Bureau, the Official Opening Ceremony will take place in the First Floor Conference Room of the House of Representatives at 2:00 PM. 

The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) and the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) will appear as the first institutions to present, marking the start of the expenditure review process.

These hearings are a vital part of the Legislature’s mandate to uphold transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline in the management of national resources. 

During the proceedings, the Committee will:

• Scrutinize proposed allocations across ministries and agencies;

• Assess expenditure priorities in alignment with national development objectives;

• Ensure that appropriations reflect equity, efficiency, and the needs of citizens across all counties;

• Strengthen oversight of public financial management to promote accountability and good governance.

The House of Representatives reaffirms its commitment to conducting the national budget process in a transparent and participatory manner. 

The media, citizens, and civil society organizations are encouraged to follow the hearings as part of Liberia’s shared responsibility to reinforce democratic governance and fiscal responsibility.

The hearings will continue throughout the week, with additional ministries, agencies, and commissions scheduled to appear before the Joint Committee. A detailed calendar of appearances will be released subsequently to guide stakeholders and the public.
