Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Embassy of the Republic of Liberia to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has officially signed a works contract with Linos Construction, a prominent local Ethiopian construction company, to undertake significant renovation works on the Liberian Chancery in Addis Ababa. The comprehensive renovation project includes roofing, electrical installations, tiling and ceiling works, painting, as well as window and door installations.
The scope of the renovation extends beyond structural improvements to include new furniture, the extension of the VIP waiting room into a fully equipped conference room, and the creation of a staff lounge. Additional upgrades cover the car park, security booth, fencing, and the construction of a new bathroom facility.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, which took place on 26 December 2025, Mr. Robert M. Sammie, Minister Plenipotentiary and Chargé d’Affaires, representing the Embassy of Liberia, described the occasion as historic. He highlighted that the project reflects the visionary leadership of Her Excellency Mme. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia. Mr. Sammie emphasized the urgency of the renovation, noting that the chancery must be completed ahead of the African Union Summit scheduled for February 2026, where His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia, is expected to attend.
The Liberian Chancery in Ethiopia is among several key diplomatic missions prioritized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its strategic plan to reposition Liberia within the global community. The contract, valued at just over USD 143,000 (One Hundred Forty-Three Thousand United States Dollars), represents a significant investment in enhancing Liberia’s diplomatic presence and readiness for increased international engagement.
Mr. Farsika M. Ayehu, General Manager of Linos Construction, expressed gratitude on behalf of his company and pledged to deliver the renovation project with exceptional quality ahead of schedule. “We are committed to completing the works within 30 days, surpassing the stipulated 40-day timeline,” he stated.
Linos Construction was selected through a competitive bidding process managed by an Ad Hoc committee. Out of three bidders, Linos Construction’s proposal was deemed both technically and financially responsive. Following a thorough review, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its relevant departments, gave final clearance for the Embassy to proceed with the project.
This renovation marks a milestone in Liberia’s diplomatic development and underscores the country’s commitment to fostering stronger international relations.
