Monrovia, Liberia – January 10, 2026 — Liberia is taking a coordinated diplomatic approach to ensure its first-ever National Fisheries Investment Conference (NFIC 2026) attracts strong global interest. Senior officials from the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs convened a high-level strategic meeting over the weekend to align efforts ahead of the March event.
Held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting featured NaFAA’s Acting Director General, Hon. J. Cyrus Saygbe, and Foreign Minister Hon. Sara Beysolow Nyanti. Discussions centered on leveraging Liberia’s diplomatic missions and international networks to formally invite foreign governments, investors, and financial institutions to the conference.
Acting Director General Saygbe thanked Minister Nyanti for her swift engagement and requested the Ministry’s support in facilitating visas, logistics, and protocol arrangements for international delegates.
In response, Minister Nyanti affirmed her ministry’s full commitment and announced the formation of a dedicated Technical Support Team to assist with diplomatic outreach. The team will be led by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Bakri Nyei, Deputy Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Integration, and will work alongside NaFAA and the conference event planner, Golden Touch Corporation.
Scheduled for March 30–31, 2026, at the Farmington Hotel in Margibi County, NFIC 2026 aims to position Liberia as a prime destination for investment in its blue economy. The conference will spotlight sustainable fisheries management, aquaculture development, blue finance, ocean conservation, and the role of women and youth in the sector.
