-To Provide Scholarship Opportunities for Law Student

Monrovia, Liberia – The Law Students Association (LAWSA) of the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law has entered a strategic academic partnership with Starz University, formalized by a Memorandum of Understanding, to expand access to technology-driven education for legal scholars through dedicated scholarships.
The agreement, executed under the leadership of LAWSA President Her Excellency Madam Izetta Jones Howe, provides tuition waivers for computer science programs specifically designed to strengthen the technological capacity of aspiring legal professionals.
This initiative is a direct response to the growing influence of technology in modern legal practice, encompassing areas such as electronic filing systems, digital evidence management, artificial intelligence-assisted legal research, and virtual court proceedings. President Howe emphasized that computer literacy has transitioned from an optional skill to an essential requirement for lawyers to navigate today’s legal environment effectively.
Under the terms of the agreement, eligible law students can benefit from tuition waivers in two distinct categories. At the Foundational Level, twenty students will receive a one-hundred percent tuition waiver for a six-week program running from March to July 2026, with classes convened every Saturday. For the Intermediate and Advanced Level computer science programs, successful applicants will be granted a fifty percent tuition waiver for an eight-week course during the same March-to-July period, with Saturday classes and the number of available slots dependent on application volume.
To qualify for either opportunity, applicants must have completed at least sixteen academic credit hours and must have settled all required university facility fees. Interested students are required to submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, and copies of their academic and professional credentials directly to the LAWSA Secretariat, with all applications addressed to the President of LAWSA.
The application window is scheduled to open from January 26 to January 28, 2026. This will be immediately followed by a vetting period from January 29 to January 30, leading to the announcement of shortlisted candidates on February 2, 2026. A formal award ceremony for the scholarship recipients is then scheduled for February 5, 2026. LAWSA has noted that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for subsequent interviews and strongly encourages all eligible students to seize this opportunity, describing the partnership as a significant step toward cultivating a technologically competent generation of Liberian legal professionals.
