– Reaffirms Commitment to Real Change in Liberia

The People’s Liberation Party (PLP) has strongly rejected what it describes as a dismissive and misplaced comment by the Chairman of the Unity Party (UP), who suggested that the future of the Opposition lies in joining the ruling party for job opportunities.

According to the PLP, such a statement reflects desperation and a troubling lack of vision for national leadership. The party maintains that Liberia’s future cannot be reduced to political bargaining chips or employment incentives aimed at silencing dissent.

Commitment to the Liberian People

The PLP reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the hopes and aspirations of the Liberian people. At the heart of its mission, the party says, is a drive for meaningful change, transparency in governance, and sustainable national development.

Rather than seeking positions within government, the PLP emphasized that its focus remains on empowering ordinary Liberians—creating opportunities that improve livelihoods and restore public trust in leadership.

“The future of Liberia is not about securing appointments,” the party noted. “It is about securing a better life for our citizens.”

Addressing the Affordability Crisis

The party also criticized the UP-led government for what it described as a failure to confront the growing affordability crisis facing families across Liberia. Rising living costs, limited economic opportunities, and inadequate public services continue to place enormous strain on households.

Instead of issuing threats or dangling job offers, the PLP challenged the government to confront the real issues affecting the population, including:

            •          Revitalizing economic growth

            •          Strengthening the healthcare system

            •          Improving access to quality education

            •          Expanding employment opportunities for young people

The PLP argues that the Liberian people deserve solutions—not political distractions.

A Call for Accountability and Responsible Leadership

The party made clear that it will not be swayed by offers of positions nor intimidated by divisive rhetoric. It pledged to continue holding the government accountable while advocating for transparency, responsible leadership, and policies that prioritize citizens over politics.

The PLP insists that Liberia’s progress must be built on integrity, inclusion, and genuine reform—not patronage or political convenience.

As national conversations about governance and development continue, the party says it remains firmly on the side of the Liberian people.

“The future of Liberia is not for sale,” the statement concluded. “We will continue to fight for real change, transparency, and development for our country.”
