Victoria David, a 17-year-old victim of an assault by a Police Support Unit (PSU) officer is appealing to humanitarian organizations and women’s rights advocates for medical support and justice. She was severely beaten by Officer Physon K. Eulsual of the Police Support Unit at her residence in Soul Clinic Community.

Eulsual had reportedly gone into the community to attend a wake. A viral video shows Officer Eulsual repeatedly striking the teenage girl with a wooden log. He was later arrested by a colleague and transferred to police headquarters.  Immediately after the incident, Victoria was rushed to a nearby community clinic where she received initial treatment.

However, she says her recovery has been slow and she continues to experience severe pain in her left shoulder. Victoria is a student of the Diamond Creek Public School. As a result of the incident, she is currently out of school as her family struggles to meet the medical bills.

Speaking in an interview with this paper, Victoria appealed for further medical assistance, particularly for advanced diagnostic treatment. “I want the government and civil society organizations to help me get better treatment. I was hit on my left shoulder, and I still feel severe pain,” she said.

Princess David, Victoria’s sister, alleged that the incident occurred when the officer, believed to have been intoxicated, forcefully entered their home without permission. “We don’t know this man from anywhere,” Princess stated. “He came from across the street where there is a liquor shop. He was very drunk and entered our house without permission. He said he was a PSU officer and claimed he came to arrest someone.”

According to the family, the officer questioned why the room was occupied by several girls. When Victoria’s mother and grandmother challenged him about entering their home without a warrant or consent, he allegedly became aggressive and verbally abusive.

Princess further alleged that the officer insulted their elderly grandmother, calling her a “witch” and blaming her for the family’s hardships. After tensions appeared to have subsided, the officer allegedly struck Victoria with a heavy log, hitting her on the left shoulder.

The teenager sustained injuries that have kept her out of school. “I am not in school right now because of what happened,” Victoria said. “I am calling on the government, civil society organizations, human rights groups, and international partners to help me get justice.”

Meanwhile, Police sources confirmed that the officer has been disarmed, stripped of his uniform, and placed in detention pending investigation. “The case is currently with the Police Professional Standards Division,” a senior police source who requested anonymity disclosed. “He remains in custody as the investigation continues.”

In an effort to obtain an official response, this paper contacted Liberia National Police spokesperson Cecelia Clarke via the police emergency line 122 and other available numbers, but calls went unanswered. A visit to her office at the Central Police Headquarters also proved unsuccessful.

“Even though we have been seeing him in the community but we actually don’t know that man from anywhere so people should stop saying he’s Victoria’s Boyfriend” …“our Sister is small and doesn’t even have a boyfriend” Princess continued. As investigations continue, the David family says they remain hopeful that justice will prevail.
