Monrovia, Liberia – – Nigerian businessman Tonny Lawal has publicly disclaimed any involvement in the recent demolition exercise at New Georgia Junction, which has left numerous citizens displaced and business owners facing significant losses.

Mr. Lawal categorically denied the allegations circulating on social media that link him to the incident. “I know nothing about what happened at the New Georgia Junction,” Mr. Lawal stated. He described the claims as “false allegations” and suggested they may be a case of mistaken identity.

The businessman emphasized that he does not support the demolition, which he said has had a devastating impact on the community. “I am not in favor of the New Georgia demolition,” he asserted. “I feel terrible that my name is being associated with an action that has left so many citizens homeless and caused business owners such a major setback.”

Mr. Lawal, who claims to have lived in the New Georgia belt for over 30 years, expressed concern over the damage to his reputation. He stated that in his three decades as a resident, he has never been known for such conduct.

He also used the opportunity to appeal to the media for responsible journalism. “Media institutions and journalists must always verify their information before publishing such stories to avoid future embarrassment that can distort people’s lives,” Mr. Lawal advised.

He concluded with a warning that any media outlet that continues to damage his character without conducting proper investigations or seeking his side of the story could face legal consequences. “If any media institution continues to damage my character without carrying out an investigation or asking me for information, that person will face judicial punishment by the law,” he said.
