Monrovia, Liberia – United Bank for Africa (UBA) Liberia, in partnership with the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), has concluded a beach cleaning exercise at the God Bless You Community in Sinkor 1st Street as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.
The initiative which was carried out on Saturday, March 7, 2025, brought together the staff of UBA, MCC workers, and community residents who worked collectively to remove plastic waste and other debris from the beach.
The exercise aimed to promote environmental awareness, encourage responsible waste disposal, and contribute to maintaining a cleaner and healthier coastline.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director/CEO of UBA Liberia Mr. Ayokunle Olajubu reaffirmed the Bank’s dedication to supporting initiatives that protect the environment and improve the well-being of communities.
“Environmental sustainability remains a key pillar of UBA’s CSR activities, rest assured that we will continue to foster a clean and safe environment. We want to thank the Monrovia City Corporation for guidance and for ensuring that we have the right tools to carry out the exercise and our appreciation to the community dwellers, he said.”
Making remarks on behalf of the Mayor, the Director for Waterfront Park and Recreation, Eva Holder thanked UBA for embarking upon such an initiative and encouraged the bank to continue in that direction.
God Bless You Community Chair Sumo extolled UBA for organizing the cleanup, highlighting that the initiative not only improved the cleanliness of the beach but also raised awareness among community members about the importance of protecting the environment.
