Bomi, Margibi, and Montserrado Counties, Liberia — The Liberia Massacre Survivors Association (LIMASA) recently held solemn commemorations to honor the victims of the nation’s devastating 14-year civil conflict.

Led by Executive Director Peterson Sonyah, the association visited multiple massacre sites across Bomi, Margibi, and Montserrado Counties, paying tribute to the thousands who lost their lives during this dark chapter in Liberia’s history.

The commemorative events aimed to remember the deceased, reflect on the painful legacy of the civil war, and advocate for justice and national reconciliation. Survivors, family members of victims, and local leaders gathered at various sites to honor the memories of those who perished, reinforcing the need to preserve their legacy.

David Kesseley, Town Chief of Maher in Bomi County, emphasized the significance of LIMASA’s initiative, stating, “It is time for justice now.”

He pledged to collaborate with the association to amplify their call for accountability and healing in Liberia.

Additionally, the association highlighted the need for the establishment of a War and Economic Crimes Court to ensure that justice is served, calling on the Liberian government to support these efforts as a crucial step towards national healing.

The group visited the Mahar Massacre site in Bomi County, the Carter camp massacre sites in Margibi County, and the Duport road massacre sites in Montserado County to pay homage to the victims of the civil war
