Monrovia: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has disclosed that his recent visit to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia provided valuable technical exposure, particularly for women and youth, who stand to benefit from the knowledge and partnerships established during the trip.
He spoke upon his return on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from the two-day official visit. The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering women and youth through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), skills development, capacity-building, and agricultural programs.
President Boakai highlighted Ethiopia’s advancement in air transport, noting that Liberia can learn from the country’s aviation sector, alongside its progress in agriculture and other key areas of development. He described the trip as successful, noting that his delegation received a warm welcome from the Ethiopian people.
The Liberian Leader also emphasized the historic relationship between Liberia and Ethiopia, pointing out that both nations share a unique legacy as the only African countries that were never colonized.
Meanwhile, when asked about the controversy surrounding District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah, who is facing possible removal from the House of Representatives, President Boakai stated that such issues are part of governance. “As long as we live, things that have not happened will continue to happen under my administration,” he said, adding, “I am not in the Legislature to make decisions.”
It can be recalled that President Boakai departed Liberia on Monday for the official visit and returned on Thursday, April 16, 2026, with what he described as positive prospects for technological advancement and economic opportunities, particularly for women and young people.
