Monrovia – In our October 22, 2024, report titled “Female Bribe Takers Among the Men – Five out of eight reportedly signed for US$15K to remove Speaker Koffa on Capitol Hill,” the following retraction is issued in the interest of fairness and accuracy.

Representative Priscilla Cooper of Montserrado County District #5, who was named among the five female legislators alleged to have signed a resolution to remove former Speaker J. Fonati Koffa, has officially responded to the publication.

Rep. Cooper states that at no point was she contacted by this paper or any investigating body regarding the allegations prior to the story’s publication. Furthermore, she has since maintained that she did not receive any money – whether US$15,000 or any other amount – for such purposes or for any other bribery-related activities.

While our report referenced signatures on a resolution and the broader bribery scheme disclosed by Representative Luther Collins, Rep. Cooper emphasizes that inclusion of her name does not equate to guilt. She reaffirms her innocence and calls for due process.

This retraction is published in acknowledgment of Rep. Cooper’s position, as she was not afforded an opportunity to respond before our original report was disseminated.
