The Congo Town Lions Club on Saturday, June 27, installed Lion Elizabeth Pelham as its new President for the 2026–2027 Lionistic Year during the club’s 7th Induction and Installation Ceremony held at Shark’s Business Center in Sinkor.
The event also featured the installation of a new corps of officers and the induction of new Lion members, marking the official transition of leadership within the club.
Lion Pelham, whose leadership is expected to run from 2026 to 2027, outlined an ambitious vision centered on charity, service, youth empowerment, and sustainable community impact.
In her inaugural address, she said her administration will prioritize expanding charitable initiatives, supporting vulnerable communities, promoting educational opportunities, assisting health-related programs, and empowering young people through leadership development and mentorship.
Emphasizing that leadership in Lionism is rooted in service rather than position, President Pelham encouraged members to embrace what she described as the “Three Ts of Lionism” Time, Treasure, and Talent.
According to her, members’ willingness to dedicate their time, contribute financial resources, and use their individual skills and expertise will enable the club to make a greater impact in communities across Liberia.
President Pelham also pledged to strengthen the Congo Town Leo Club, describing the Leos as the future of Lionism and valuable partners in community service. She said her administration will work closely with the youth organization through mentorship, leadership training, and joint service projects.
She further called on members to actively participate in club activities and recruit individuals who share the passion for humanitarian service.
As part of efforts to finance the club’s community projects during the new Lionistic Year, President Pelham officially launched a fundraising campaign and appealed to members to contribute generously. Leading by example, she made the first donation by presenting a cheque valued at US$7,200, encouraging fellow Lions to support the initiative.
In his farewell remarks, outgoing President Lion Sam Brown thanked members for the opportunity to serve, describing his tenure as both rewarding and memorable. He expressed appreciation for the cooperation he received from members throughout his administration.
Brown paid special tribute to the Congo Town Leo Club, saying that although his term as President has ended, his commitment to the Leos remains unwavering. He pledged to continue mentoring and supporting the youth organization whenever needed, stressing that the future of Lionism depends on developing young leaders.
“I may be leaving the presidency, but I will never give up on the Leos. I will always be available to mentor and support them because the future of this organization depends on them,” Brown said.
He also pledged to continue working alongside both the Congo Town Leo Club and the Congo Town Lions Club in advancing their humanitarian mission.
The ceremony concluded with the induction of new Lion members and the installation of the club’s new leadership, ushering in a new chapter under President Elizabeth Pelham aimed at expanding service, strengthening youth leadership, and increasing community impact.
