President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has reaffirmed Liberia’s unwavering commitment to the One-China Policy while congratulating the Communist Party of China (CPC) on its 105th anniversary, describing the party’s achievements as a source of inspiration for developing nations around the world.

Speaking at a reception marking the anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, President Boakai said Liberia was honored to join the celebration, which also reflects the enduring friendship and strong diplomatic ties between Liberia and China.

The President noted that the founding of the Communist Party of China in July 1921 marked the beginning of a remarkable chapter in Chinese history. He said the CPC has successfully guided China through profound transformation, turning a nation that once faced enormous challenges into one of the world’s leading economies and a major contributor to global economic growth.

President Boakai attributed China’s success to visionary leadership, long-term planning, and the dedication and resilience of the Chinese people.

He praised China for lifting millions of people out of poverty, advancing technology, developing modern infrastructure, and improving the living standards of its citizens, noting that these accomplishments continue to inspire many developing countries, including Liberia.

The Liberian leader also acknowledged China’s growing role in promoting international peace, economic cooperation, and sustainable development, describing the relationship between Liberia and China as one built on mutual respect, solidarity, and a shared aspiration for prosperity.

President Boakai highlighted the steady expansion of bilateral cooperation since diplomatic relations were restored in 2003. He said the partnership has yielded significant benefits in key sectors, including health, education, agriculture, human resource development, and capacity building.

Reaffirming Liberia’s foreign policy position, President Boakai said Liberia remains steadfast in its commitment to the One-China Policy, recognizing the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate government representing China.

He emphasized that the One-China Policy remains the cornerstone of the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries.

On behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, President Boakai extended warm congratulations to the Communist Party of China on its 105th anniversary and expressed confidence that the longstanding partnership between Liberia and China will continue to grow for the mutual benefit of both nations.

For his part Chinese Ambassador accredited to Liberia Yin Chengwu reflected on the Communist Party of China’s 105-year journey, describing it as a story of resilience, transformation, and national rejuvenation.

Ambassador Yin said the CPC was founded in 1921 at a time when China was experiencing national hardship and foreign domination. He noted that the Party was established with the mission of seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenating the Chinese nation.

According to the Ambassador, under the leadership of the CPC, China ended what he described as a century of national humiliation, established socialism as its fundamental system, built an independent industrial and economic base, and transformed itself into the world’s second-largest economy through reform and opening-up policies.

He said China has significantly improved the living standards of its people while becoming an important contributor to global economic growth and development.

The Ambassador reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Liberia through initiatives such as the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative.

He said China stands ready to deepen cooperation with Liberia in areas including development, governance, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and capacity building, while promoting peace, mutual respect, and shared prosperity.

Ambassador Yin emphasized that modernization should not be the exclusive privilege of a few countries but a common aspiration for all nations. He pledged China’s continued support for Liberia’s development through mutually beneficial cooperation and exchanges.

He also reaffirmed China’s willingness to strengthen cooperation with Liberia and other countries in promoting good governance, economic development, and improved livelihoods, stressing the principles of equality, mutual respect, independence, and non-interference in internal affairs.

Highlighting the CPC’s growth, Ambassador Yin noted that the Party, which began with just over 50 members in 1921, now has more than 100 million members, making it the world’s largest governing political party.

He said China is moving confidently toward its Second Centenary Goal of building a modern socialist country in all respects while remaining committed to building a community with a shared future for humanity.

The program was held Friday, June 26, 2026 evening at the Chinese embassy in Congo Town and was embraced by several government officials, Chinese officials and members of the fourth estate.
