-After Court Rejects Bond

MONROVIA, Liberia – Former Chief of Protocol Nora Finda Bundoo surrendered to state security on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, and was immediately remanded to the Monrovia Central Prison, hours after Criminal Court “C” Presiding Judge Ousman F. Feika ordered her arrest and rejected her second bond application.
Bundoo, escorted by her legal team, arrived at the prison compound shortly after the court denied her proposed criminal appearance bond and demanded a valid surety in the amount of US $8 million. She was processed and taken into custody while her attorneys pledged to file a new bond motion on her behalf.
The former protocol chief to ex-President George Weah, who served from 2018 to 2024, is one of more than 40 co-defendants facing trial for the alleged misappropriation and laundering of over US $6 million and 800 million Liberian dollars between 2020 and 2023. The Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce (AREPRT) has charged Bundoo with money laundering, theft of property, misuse of public funds, forgery, criminal conspiracy, and abuse of office.
Judge Feika’s ruling on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, marked the second time the court has rejected Bundoo’s bond request, citing insufficient surety. Her detention underscores the judiciary’s firm stance in a high-profile corruption case that has drawn widespread public attention as Liberia continues to grapple with accountability for public officials.
Bundoo’s legal team indicated they would move swiftly to secure her release through a revised bond application.
