Monrovia –President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has ordered the immediate dismissal, suspension, and prosecution of multiple government officials and law enforcement personnel following revelations in major cocaine trafficking cases.
The president’s actions came after reviewing the latest status report on ongoing investigations into significant narcotics seizures, including the discovery of 198 plates of processed cocaine at Roberts International Airport (RIA) and the confiscation of 3,971 plates of cocaine from the premises of two foreign nationals.
Senior Officials Dismissed
Those dismissed from their positions with immediate effect include:
· Mark Egon Kuiah, Deputy Director for Operations at Roberts International Airport
· Johnny Bolar Dean, Commissioner of Police for Criminal Investigation, Intelligence and INTERPOL
· Patrick Doe, Deputy Director for Administration at the National Security Agency (NSA)
Additionally, President Boakai ordered the immediate dismissal of all government employees and law enforcement officers indicted in connection with the narcotics cases, including:
· Mohammed O. Gbowrah, Director of Security at Roberts International Airport
· Moses Jallah, Deputy Commander of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) at Roberts International Airport
Police Officers Accused of Narcotics Transport
Two Liberia National Police officers have been dismissed for allegedly using official government vehicles to facilitate the transportation of a narcotics consignment from Vincent Town along the Bomi Highway to the vicinity of Mega Mart in Thinker Village, Paynesville. They are:
· Anthony T. Blaye
· Waddell W. Kwarbo
Officials Ordered for Prosecution
The President has directed that the following individuals be forwarded to the Ministry of Justice for prosecution:
· Jammel V. Jallah, Agent, National Security Agency
· Christian L. Nyantee, Agent, National Security Agency
· Caycee Nelson, Procurement Director, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection
· Albenigo Janior, Agent, National Security Agency
Intelligence Officer Recalled and Suspended
President Boakai has recalled Patrick Komasu (702), who had been seconded to the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency. He has been suspended without pay and placed under investigation.
Administration’s Commitment to Rule of Law
“This administration is resolved to ensure that no public official or government employee who engages in criminal conduct remains in public service,” President Boakai stated.
The President emphasized that the Government will continue to enforce the law without fear or favor, holding accountable anyone found to have participated in narcotics trafficking or related criminal activities.
Next Steps
President Boakai has directed all relevant security and law enforcement institutions to intensify their investigations and ensure that every individual connected to these cases is brought before the courts in accordance with due process of law.
The Executive Mansion assured the Liberian people that the Government will continue to take all lawful and necessary measures to combat narcotics trafficking, dismantle criminal networks, strengthen national security, and safeguard the integrity and international reputation of the Republic of Liberia.
