The Committee on Ways, Means, and Finance of the Honorable House of Representatives will on Monday, September 7, 2026 at 10:00AM, commence a series of Revenue Performance Hearings for Fiscal Year 2026.
The hearings will be conducted under the authority of the Committee, with technical support from the Legislative Budget Office (LBO) to ensure rigorous analysis, review, and documentation of revenue performance and related fiscal matters.
According to the Press and Public Affairs Department, the hearings will commence with presentations from the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) and the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) in the first floor conference room at 10:00AM.
The two institutions are expected to provide detailed reports and updates on the following:
• Revenue Performance of the FY2026 Approved National Budget: Actual revenue collections to date, sectoral contributions, revenue gaps, and compliance measures;
• State of the Liberian Economy: Current macroeconomic conditions, fiscal stability, economic performance, and growth outlook; and
• Prospects for FY2027: Anticipated revenue targets, proposed policy measures, emerging challenges, and strategies for sustaining fiscal discipline.
Subsequent sessions will feature presentations from other key public institutions and sectors, including the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), with discussions expected to focus on petroleum data sales contracts with TDS, revenue contributions, and identified procedural lapses.
The Committee will also engage the Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA), the Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority (LPRA), and the Ministry of Mines and Energy on matters relating to petroleum licensing, regulatory compliance, and revenue generation within the sector.
In addition, hearings will examine the performance of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and their contributions to domestic revenue. Major entities expected to feature include the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), the National Port Authority (NPA), among others.
The Revenue Performance Hearings are intended to strengthen transparency, accountability, fiscal responsibility, and legislative oversight in the management of public resources.
The hearings will provide lawmakers and the Liberian public with a clearer understanding of the country’s domestic revenue performance against approved targets, the resilience of the Liberian economy, and the strategies being pursued to meet the fiscal demands of the upcoming financial year.
The Committee underscores that the hearings represent an important component of Liberia’s democratic accountability framework, ensuring that fiscal policies, revenue mobilization efforts, and public financial management remain aligned with the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development and the aspirations of the Liberian people.
