-Urges Calm and Objective Police Investigation

MONROVIA – As public emotions run high following the tragic death of Mrs. Toni Jackson, the Jackson family has broken its silence, appealing for calm, compassion, and faith in the investigative process while expressing profound grief over the loss of the woman they lovingly called their “Zulu Queen.”

In a statement issued to the press, Atty. Isaac Jackson spoke on behalf of the family, mourning the passing of his sister-in-law, a South African national whose death has sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for action against gender-based violence in Liberia.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dearly beloved sister-in-law, Mrs. Toni Jackson, our Zulu Queen,” Atty. Jackson said. “Toni was a sweet and accomplished young professional—caring, compassionate, and generous in love. Uncle Sam loved Toni deeply, and she loved him in return, forming a marital bond that many admired for its strength and devotion.”

The statement marks the first public commentary from the Jackson family since Toni Jackson’s body was discovered with a deep laceration to the head and multiple bruises—injuries that have led the Liberia National Police to name her husband, economist Samuel Jackson, as a person of interest in a suspected homicide investigation.

In a notable departure from purely personal grief, Atty. Jackson expanded the family’s condolences to encompass all victims of gender-based violence in Liberia—a disease that activists say afflicts between one in three and nearly one in two Liberian women.

“In the wake of her tragic passing and the many emotions surrounding it, we wish to state clearly that we stand in solidarity, sorrow, and sympathy with all victims of domestic abuse, including girls and boys who suffer the terrible crimes of rape and sodomy,” he said. “Violence and abuse in any form are deeply troubling, and our hearts go out to all who have endured such pain.”

Since Toni Jackson’s death, social media has been flooded with accusations against Samuel Jackson, some leveled by individuals described in the family statement as “close to Uncle Sam.” Atty. Jackson acknowledged the distress these allegations have caused, while carefully threading the needle between defending a family member and respecting the need for accountability.

“We respectfully call on the public and all those touched by this sad event to remain calm and measured, allowing verified evidence and the appropriate authorities to determine the course of action,” he said. Atty. Jackson also appealed to the public to exercise restraint in sharing graphic content related to Toni Jackson’s death, warning that such actions could compound the family’s pain and potentially prejudice the ongoing police investigation.

“As we mourn during this time of sorrow, we encourage everyone to show compassion and respect toward the bereaved family,” he said. “We also kindly urge the public to refrain from sharing sensitive or graphic content related to this matter, as such actions may cause further pain to the family and could potentially prejudice or jeopardize the ongoing police investigation.”
