-U.S Embassy urges political parties’ supporters

The U.S. Embassy has admonished political parties and their supporters, to patiently await the official results from the National Elections Commission, in a bid to strengthening Liberia’s electoral process and maintaining the existing peace.

In a recent statement, the  states- “We urge all citizens, especially political parties and their supporters, to patiently await the official results from the National Elections Commission.  By waiting for official results, you play a pivotal role in strengthening Liberia’s electoral process which is the backbone of your democracy.  Democracy is always the answer.”

It continues- “As Dr. Nevers Mumba, the head of mission for the USAID supported Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa’s election observation mission (EISA) and the former Vice President of the Republic of Zambia said yesterday, “A football game lasts 90 minutes. You can’t celebrate victory after only 60 minutes.” 

The United States says it remains committed to supporting the aspirations of the Liberian people for free and fair elections.
