The Council for Churches in Africa (CCA) has appointed Bishop Dr. John Ballah Mulbah as the new President of CCA Liberia, effective June 23, 2025. The appointment was formally communicated in a letter from Apostle Bishop Dr. Rocky Moyo, Founder and International President of CCA, who expressed confidence in Bishop Mulbah’s leadership capabilities and alignment with the organization’s mission.

The decision followed what the CCA characterized as careful consideration and prayer by it leadership, which recognized Bishop Mulbah’s extensive experience in church leadership, ecumenical engagement, and community development. The CCA believes his dedication to promoting unity, justice, and peace among churches and communities in Liberia was a key factor in his selection.

“We believe that your extensive experience in church leadership, ecumenical engagement, and community development makes you an ideal candidate for this role. Your passion for promoting unity, justice, and peace among churches and communities in Liberia aligns with CCA’s mission and values,” the appointment letter reads.

As President of CCA Liberia, he will provide overall leadership and vision, preside over official meetings and national events, represent the organization in national and international forums, and oversee the implementation of policies and strategic plans.

In his acceptance, Bishop Mulbah pledged his commitment to the role, stating, “I, Bishop Dr. John Ballah Mulbah, hereby accept my appointment as President for CCA Liberia, effective June 23, 2025. I am committed to serving in this role and contributing to the mission and objectives of the Council for Churches in Africa (CCA). I pledge to serve this organization faithfully and voluntarily.”

The Council for Churches in Africa (CCA) is a prominent non-profit, non-governmental, and non-political organization dedicated to fostering unity, collaboration, and spiritual growth among Christian communities across the African continent. With an extensive network of over 6,100 affiliated churches and a membership of 49 million individuals, the CCA stands on the biblical principles outlined in Ephesians 4:3-9**, serving as a unifying force for churches and ecclesiastical leaders.

Its core mission is to strengthen the body of Christ by promoting harmony, love, and fellowship among believers, guided by the teachings of Scripture. By bridging denominational divides and encouraging cooperative ministry, the CCA plays a pivotal role in advancing a shared vision of faith, hope, and transformative impact within African Christianity.

A key pillar of the CCA’s work is its commitment to nurturing and equipping spiritual leaders—including clergy, bishops, apostles, prophets, and other ministers—to fulfill their divine callings with wisdom and excellence. Recognizing that strong leadership is essential for the growth and sustainability of the Church, the organization provides structured mentorship, theological training, and practical resources to empower leaders in their respective ministries.

Grounded in the orderly guidance of the Holy Spirit, the CCA ensures that these leaders are well-prepared to address the spiritual, social, and economic challenges facing their communities. Through this investment in leadership development, the CCA strengthens the broader Church and advances God’s kingdom across Africa and beyond.

The CCA serves as an inclusive umbrella body, embracing a diverse array of faith-based organizations—ranging from Apostolic, Pentecostal, Evangelical, and Charismatic groups to Protestant, Episcopal, Zionist, and Missionary movements, as well as gospel artists and individual believers. This ecumenical approach reflects the rich tapestry of Christianity in Africa, nurturing mutual respect and cooperation among different denominations.

The CCA creates a platform for shared mission, worship, and service, reinforcing the universal bonds of faith, by transcending theological and cultural differences. Its ecclesiastical authority provides a unifying structure that encourages collaborative efforts in evangelism, discipleship, and humanitarian outreach, ensuring that the Church remains a powerful force for good.

The recent appointment of Bishop Mulbah to a leadership role within the CCA marks a substantial milestone for ecumenical collaboration in Liberia. This development heralds a new phase of interdenominational partnership, with high expectations for strengthened unity and impactful community initiatives under his guidance.

Bishop Mulbah’s leadership is anticipated to enhance cooperation among Liberia’s diverse Christian groups, fostering initiatives that address pressing societal needs—such as poverty alleviation, education, and peacebuilding. Beyond leadership development and ecumenism, the CCA is deeply engaged in promoting holistic ministry—integrating spiritual growth with social transformation. Recognizing that the Gospel calls believers to serve both the soul and the body, the organization supports initiatives that tackle issues like healthcare disparities, gender inequality, and youth empowerment.

The CCA also ensures that the Christian faith translates into tangible blessings for society, by mobilizing churches to engage in community development. Undoubtedly, this approach aligns with Christ’s mandate to be “salt and light” in the world, demonstrating God’s love through compassionate action and advocacy for justice.

Looking ahead, the organization seeks to deepen its partnerships with international faith-based networks, governments, and humanitarian agencies to amplify its influence. The CCA is poised to lead a new era of revival and transformation across the continent—one where the Church stands as a beacon of hope, unity, and divine purpose for generations to come.
