Monrovia – The strengthening of bilateral ties between China and Liberia took a focus on youth empowerment and sports development on Thursday, February 26, 2026, as the Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Yin Chengwu, met with the Youth and Sports Minister, Cornelia W. Kruah.
During the meeting at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Paynesville, Ambassador Yin extended his congratulations to Minister Kruah on her assumption of office. He highlighted that cooperation in the youth and sports sectors serves as a vital pillar in a comprehensive partnership between the two nations. The Ambassador expressed China’s commitment to working collaboratively with Liberia to implement the key consensus reached by the two heads of state.
He specifically noted the significance of the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges as a strategic opportunity to deepen mutual understanding and collaboration. He emphasized that engaging young people and fostering sportsmanship are crucial avenues for building a lasting friendship between China and Liberia.
In response, Minister Kruah briefed Ambassador Yin on the ministry’s recent activities and outlined her vision for the future of Liberian youth and sports. She
expressed her gratitude to the Ambassador for the visit and the longstanding support of the Chinese government.
