-As Supreme President of Knights of St. John Ladies’ Auxiliary

Nobel Sister Cllr. Philomena Tugbe Williams, President of the Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia (AFELL), has been elected and formally installed as Supreme President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Noble Order of the Knights of St. John International. The Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John International is a global sisterhood of Catholic women united in faith and fellowship.
Cllr. Williams’ election and induction took place at the climax of the Supreme Subordinate of Liberia of the Knights of St. John International biennial convention held from December 10-14, 2025, in Harper City, Maryland County. The event, held under the theme “Faith, Hope, and Charity: Our journey with Christ, guiding our legacy,” brought together members to reflect on organizational progress, share strategic insights, and elect new leadership for the coming term.
Her ascendancy to the post marks a significant moment in the organization’s ongoing commitment to leadership and service. During her acceptance remarks, Cllr. Williams expressed sincere appreciation to members for their trust and confidence in her leadership. “To our electorates, thank you for the confidence in our leadership,” she affirmed.
Referencing the Bishop’s characterization of the Knights as ‘dead,’ she called for unity and renewal, emphasizing, “United as a team, let us reawaken and revitalize our ancient and noble order.” Nobel Sister Cllr. Williams highlighted the importance of adhering to the rights and responsibilities of the laity under canon law and outlined her commitment to collaboration with the church.
She announced plans for educational workshops and awareness campaigns designed to advance and safeguard human rights in Liberia. Reiterating the organization’s motto, “For God and Country,” she encouraged members, stating, “Let us begin our work. We will unite as a team, assess our current standing, and jointly develop strategies for future growth.
Nobel Sister Cllr. Williams also extended congratulations to Mayor General Andrew Nimely, newly elected to lead the male division of the Knights of St. John International. She conveyed the Supreme Ladies’ Auxiliary’s dedication to supporting the organization’s mission and objectives.
Additionally, she acknowledged and thanked the outgoing leadership for their dedicated service over the preceding five years. “We say thank you,” she noted, “and we pledge to build upon the foundation you have laid, recognizing that good governance is rooted in continuity.”
With Cllr. Williams at the helm, the Supreme Ladies’ Auxiliary looks forward to a new era defined by collective purpose and unwavering commitment to the values of faith, hope, and charity. The organization remains resolute in its service to God and country and is poised for impactful advancement within the Knights of St. John International in Liberia.
