SANNIQUELLIE, Nimba County — Musa Hassan Bility, Political Leader of the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) and Nimba County Electoral District #7 Representative, has committed the party to empowering women in the county and ensuring their safety and well-being. “Our party center is women. We are here to develop women. We want to make sure women are not abused. That’s what this party is about.”
Speaking during the official introduction of the party in Sanniquellie, Nimba County over the weekend,
Bility said the CMC is committed to fighting against gender-based violence and discrimination, and to promoting women’s participation in national politics and decision-making. He pledged to work with women leaders inline with his party’s cole values to develop policies and programs that benefit women and girls in Liberia.
The CMC Political Leader emphasized the importance of empowering women through education, economic empowerment, and leadership development.
He noted that women play a critical role in society and that their empowerment is essential for the development of the country. Bility assured women that CMC will work to protect their rights and interests, including their right to live free from violence and discrimination.
He pledged to work with law enforcement agencies and the judiciary to ensure that perpetrators of gender-based violence are held accountable.
The CMC leader emphasized the importance of women’s participation in politics and decision-making.
He noted that women bring unique perspectives and experiences to the table and that their participation is essential for the development of inclusive and responsive policies.
Bility outlined CMC’s women’s agenda, which includes promoting women’s participation in politics and decision-making, fighting against gender-based violence and discrimination, and empowering women through education and economic empowerment
and providing support services for survivors of gender-based violence.
At the same time, the lawmaker stressed the
need to address poverty alleviation and ensure economic and social development for all Liberians.
Rep. Bility committed to fighting injustices such as poverty and human rights violations. He pledged to provide loans for small businesses to improve people’s livelihoods, but noted that this can only be achieved with full support from Liberians.
Bility encouraged citizens to join CMC if they envision a better future for Liberia. The party’s introduction and induction of top officials were held at Prince O.S. Tokpah Academy in Sanniquellie on Saturday, August 16, 2025. The CMC leadership inducted includes Yah Tokpah — Women Coordinator for Nimba, Bong, and Lofa Counties; Armstrong Gobac Selekpoh — Political Advisor; Harrison Luo — Coordinator, CMC National Executive Committee; and Larry Nyounquoi — Vice Chair for Data Statistics and Research.
According to the party’s first partisan, CMC aims to change Nimba County and Liberia by delivering quality leadership, restoring accountability, and bringing development. The CMC Women Coordinator, Yah Tokpah, and her husband, former Nimba Electoral District #2 lawmaker, Prince O.S. Tokpah, were among the notable figures who attended the rally.
