-In Capitol Building Arson Case

By Jerromie S. Walters

Liberia – Criminal Court “A” has accepted a US$500,000 property bond to secure the release of six defendants facing criminal charges, including arson, conspiracy, and intent to commit murder in the Capitol Building arson case. Resident Circuit Judge Roosevelt Z. Willie granted the bond after sureties Randolph S. Cole and Ruffina J. Cole pledged a two-story building and property deed valued at US$6 million as collateral.

The defendants—Christian Kofa, John Nyanti, Eric Susay, Thomas Isaac Etheridge, Stephen Broh, and Gabriel Fansich—are accused of crimes ranging from aggravated assault and illegal firearm possession to reckless endangerment and property destruction. The bond ensures their appearance at all court hearings until the case concludes.

The sureties provided verified documentation, including tax receipts from the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), confirming the property’s legal standing. Represented by attorney-in-fact Patrick B. Coleman, the Coles affirmed their commitment to the court’s conditions. The defendants must appear on a scheduled date as proceedings move forward.
