Monrovia – Alexander B. Cummings, political leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), has lauded the Supreme Court of Liberia for its recent ruling, describing it as a reaffirmation of the nation’s commitment to the rule of law and judicial independence.

In a statement released Wednesday, Cummings praised the High Court for acting with “authority and fairness” amid ongoing political tensions. He emphasized that the decision lays a critical foundation for national stability and underscores the principle that all Liberians—regardless of status or political affiliation—must be subject to the law.

“The Court has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to constitutional order,” Cummings noted. “Its ruling is not just a legal verdict, but a moral anchor that reinforces the rule of law in our democracy.”

Cummings also commended House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa for what he termed as “courage, restraint, and statesmanship” during the turbulent period. He highlighted Koffa’s expressed readiness to “make the ultimate sacrifice” in defense of democratic values as a profound act of patriotism.

“In times like these, true leadership is defined not by personal ambition, but by a willingness to put country above self,” Cummings said.

Turning his attention to the Executive Mansion, Cummings issued a pointed call to President Joseph N. Boakai, urging him to uphold and enforce the Supreme Court’s decision without delay.

“As the custodian of our Constitution, the President must act with urgency and integrity,” he stated. “Failure to do so would erode public confidence in the governance of our country.”

Cummings concluded by stressing the importance of institutional integrity and moral leadership, asserting that Liberia’s democratic future hinges on both.

“Let us each do our part in safeguarding our democracy and ensuring a brighter future for generations to come,” he said.
