A female drug suspect Rita Sarta Williams, who was arrested recently with 1.9 kilograms of cocaine valued at US$100,000, has officially admitted to committing the crime at Criminal Court ‘C’.
Her sudden confession was during court proceedings aimed at bringing the legal battle to an end.
Suspect Rita Williams confessed to being in possession of the illegal substance while responding to her criminal indictment at Criminal Court ‘C’ at the Temple of Justice.
She also reaffirmed her guilty plea in accordance with the law when questioned by Judge Joe Barkon, who sought to confirm whether her plea was made voluntarily.
Following her open admission in court, the Director of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency, Col. Anthony Suah, expressed his views in an exclusive interview with our Judicial Correspondent.
Col. Suah said he was surprised by the female suspect confession in court but noted that the confession vindicates the Agency, proving it did not fabricate evidence against suspected drug traffickers AA been speculated in many quarters.
It can be recalled that prior to her guilty plea, the female drug suspect was arrested by LDEA officers at the Klay Checkpoint, which borders neighboring Guinea and Liberia in 2024.
Her arrest led to an indictment by the Grand Jury of Montserrado County during the August Term of Court, ultimately culminating in her recent confession.
