WAYZOHN, GRAND BASSA COUNTY – Finda Hali, a Liberian woman whose boyfriend died on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in her bedroom, says the deceased was sick up to the time of the incident.

The mysterious death of 42-year-old Muhammad Toure has left many, including residents in Wayzohn, Grand Bassa County in complete devastation.

In an interview with reporters following the incident, Finda attributed Muhammad’s death to epilepsy, an illness she says he has been battling for years.

Her accounts come after many accused her of secretly murdering her boyfriend in bed. Finda explained the genesis of how the now–deceased, Muhammad Toure encountered her to establish a relationship. “He came across me; so he asked me for my name and I called my name and he said that he liked me,” she stated.

According to her, Muhammad Toure confronted her about her relationship status, quoting him as saying “You get friend,” a question she answered “no” – prompting Muhammad to visit her at her rented place. “Can you show me your place and I located my place to him,” Finda added.

Finda emphasized that she does not know Muhammad’s family background, even a friend but he began visiting her home on grounds that he is a businessman and interested to help her in doing business. “…but when this man was coming to me, I didn’t see no friend behind him. I didn’t see no relatives with him,” she asserted.

She highlighted that during a series of visits, he had wished to meet her mother who had been away from home.

“Each time he comes to visit me, he will ask if my mother has returned…,” she noted. Finda stressed that while Muhammad moved to her place about two days he started complaining that he was sick.

“So within that time, it was about two days, he started complaining that he was sick. So he went across the road, he bought a tablet and bought it…” she asserted. Finda disclosed that a few days later while in bed, Muhammad started feeling feverish and expressed a need to attend to nature.

She added further that upon his return to the room, she heard a loud falling sound – which when she jumped from bed, and found Muhammad lying helpless and conversing on the ground. She also recounted that she immediately tried to assist Muhammad by accommodating him in the room  – compressed him and regained strength for the first time based on what she suspected to be ‘epilepsy.’

“I’ve been living with epilepsy people, so I was not afraid and I made him come to himself for the first time…” Finda said. Going forward, she said Muhammad started conversing with reinforcement, a condition she said she could not withstand but ran out of the room – seeking help from neighbors, including her mother to take him to the health center.

According to Finda, unfortunately, upon her return to the room, she discovered that Muhammad had passed away – with fluid running from his mouth and noise.

Finda revealed that Muhammad had been hesitant about introducing her to his family members nether friends – via phone communication – warning her against touching his bed or having herself blamed if she did, out of fear of not going to his house.

Finda narrated in part: “all along he refused to take me to his place or for me to know people from behind him. When I want to put my hand in his bed to take phone number to call he will say if I put hand in his bed anything that will come after it to affect me he will not be responsible.” Police investigators are investigating the distressing episode.
