Monrovia, Liberia – Newly elected Nimba County Senator Samuel Kogar was barred from participating in today’s House of Representatives Speakership election after being deemed ineligible by the House’s Chief Clerk.

The controversy arose when Kogar was seen among lawmakers in the main chamber ahead of the crucial vote. Montserrado County District #16 Representative Dixon Seboe raised objections, asserting that Kogar, having already been certified as a senator, should not be permitted to vote in the House’s internal election.

“He is not supposed to be here,” Seboe declared, prompting an immediate review of Kogar’s eligibility.

The Chief Clerk later clarified that while Kogar could observe the proceedings, he was not authorized to cast a vote, as his certification as a senator disqualifies him from participating in House elections.
