
Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Crusaders for Peace (LCP) has honored the Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Gbeme Horace-Kollie, as its distinguished “Woman of Substance,” recognizing her leadership and advocacy for gender equality and child protection across the country.
The award, announced Wednesday in Monrovia, celebrates Minister Kollie’s contributions to national development, particularly her efforts to advance women’s rights, promote social inclusion, and strengthen policies protecting vulnerable populations. According to the LCP, her work has made her a symbol of resilience and excellence in a nation still working to solidify post-war peace and development.
“Her leadership continues to inspire hope and progress,” the organization said in a statement. The LCP noted that Minister Kollie’s dedication closely aligns with its own mission to foster peace, unity, and sustainable development through inclusive leadership and community engagement.
In addition to her policy work, the LCP emphasized the symbolic importance of Kollie’s career for Liberian women and girls. “Her work serves as a beacon of inspiration to women and young girls across the country, encouraging them to pursue leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to society,” the group said.
The Liberia Crusaders for Peace, a civic organization focused on peacebuilding and social advocacy, has a history of recognizing public figures whose work exemplifies integrity and national impact. In its announcement, the group said that as Liberia continues its journey toward stability, it remains committed to honoring individuals who demonstrate service above self.
“Hon. Gbeme Horace-Kollie stands tall among such leaders, and this recognition reflects the organization’s deep appreciation for her service to the nation,” the LCP stated. The organization extended its congratulations to the minister and wished her continued success in her efforts to uplift and empower the people of Liberia.
The honor comes at a time when Liberia’s Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection is actively working to address issues including sexual and gender-based violence, child labor, and economic empowerment for women.
The LCP is a local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) organized in 1994. Ita Founder is Amb Juli Endee. The institution was registered under the laws of the Republic of Liberia through the Ministry of Planning and Economic Affairs in 2001. Its office complex is located on Capitol By-pass, Monrovia adjacent the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. Amb. Juli Endee is the Executive Director of the LCP.
The LCP is an advocacy and social mobilization organisation that promotes behaviour change and participatory communication through community dialogue and conversation, theatre, music and dance.
The LCP has implemented several projects for UNICEF, WFP, WHO, the Ministry of Health, TRC, LISGIS, UNMIL and is currently carrying out sensitization and awareness campaign on HIV/AIDS for the National AIDS-STI Control Program (NACP) Ministry of Agriculture Back to the Soil Campaign.
Some of the programs implemented in collaboration with partners listed above include; social mobilization for Polio Eradication, Back to School Campaign, Community Reintegration of Children Associated with Fighting Forces (CAFF), Let the Children Play and many other event-based activities such as the Day of the African Child, Breastfeeding Week and HIV/AIDS promotion and awareness; LCP also has vast experience in training.
