Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has formally charged and forwarded suspect Quita Dolo Kosso to the Roberts International Airport (RIA) Magisterial Court for allegedly trafficking narcotics into Liberia.
The 39-year-old Liberian national was arrested on July 12, 2025, upon her arrival at Roberts International Airport aboard Kenya Airways Flight KQ887 from Bangkok, Thailand. During a search, LDEA officers discovered 3.355 kilograms of cocaine concealed in her luggage, with an estimated street value of US$181,008.
While in custody, Kosso fell ill during preliminary investigations, prompting her legal representatives, Cllr. Lafayette Gould and Julius R. Addy, to formally request medical attention on July 16. The LDEA approved the request, and she was treated at JFK Medical Center, with all medical records subsequently filed with the agency.
The LDEA has charged Kosso under several provisions of Liberia’s Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, including Section 14.83 for trafficking and importation, Section 14.85 for sales, distribution, administration, delivery, and transportation, Section 14.89 for possession, and Section 10.2 for criminal conspiracy. These charges constitute non-bailable offenses under the country’s revised drug laws.
The agency reiterated its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and urged the public to allow the judicial process to proceed without interference. The LDEA also encouraged citizens to report any drug-related activities by calling its hotline at 0777-133-333.
“Together, we can build a drug-free Liberia,” the agency stated in its release.
