-Due To “Critical Grid Maintenance”

The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) informs residents of Monrovia and surrounding communities about planned electricity disruptions occurring from June 16 to 18, 2025. These interruptions result from essential commissioning work at the DUEKOUÉ Substation in Côte d’Ivoire being conducted by Compagnie Ivoirienne d’Électricité (CIE). The LEC says the maintenance requires a temporary shutdown of the Buyo-Man transmission line, a crucial component of the CLSG regional power network that supplies electricity to Liberia.
According to an LEC release dated Monday, June 16, 2025, power supply will be affected daily between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during this three-day period. LEC technicians are working to minimize disruptions by optimizing output from available local generation sources. The corporation acknowledges the inconvenience this may cause and appreciates customers’ understanding as these infrastructure improvements aim to enhance long-term power reliability.
LEC’s Public Affairs Division will provide regular updates on the maintenance progress and any changes to the schedule. Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly by charging essential devices in advance and adjusting activities during outage hours. The CLSG network, connecting Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, plays a vital role in regional electricity stability, and these upgrades will ultimately benefit all partner nations.
The corporation apologizes for any inconvenience and reassures customers that its team is working diligently to restore normal operations as quickly as possible. For further information, the public can contact LEC’s customer service channels.
