Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS) is set to lead the nation in observing International Firefighters’ Day, with a series of events scheduled to honor the bravery and service of firefighters across the country.
Observed globally each year on May 4, the day serves as a tribute to the selfless men and women who risk their lives to save others and protect property in times of fire and disaster.
This year’s commemoration, hosted by the LNFS, includes a four-day lineup of activities designed to recognize the sacrifices of firefighters while also engaging with the public through faith, sports, and national pride.

Activities Kick Off with Prayer and Sports
The celebration begins on Friday, May 2, with a moment of prayer at the Black Gena Mosque in Jacob Town, Paynesville, led by LNFS Director G. Warsuwah Barvoul Sr. and members of the service. The following day, Saturday, May 3, will feature a full day of sporting activities at the BTC Barracks, aimed at fostering camaraderie and physical fitness among LNFS personnel.
Thanksgiving and Recognition
On Sunday, May 4, the official date of International Firefighters’ Day, the LNFS will attend a thanksgiving service at the Triumphant Living Miracles Assembly, located behind the J.E. Marshall Grass Field. The service is intended as a spiritual reflection and acknowledgment of divine protection over Liberia’s firefighters.
Parade and Indoor Program in Central Monrovia
The celebrations will conclude on Monday, May 5, with a parade and indoor ceremony at the Executive Pavilion in Central Monrovia. The event will showcase the LNFS’s operational capacity and highlight the role of fire services in national development.
The keynote address will be delivered by Senator Momo Cyrus, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Security, Intelligence, and Veteran Affairs, who is also serving as the event’s national chairman.
The Liberia National Fire Service is encouraging all Liberians to join in the celebrations and express their appreciation for the dedication of firefighters nationwide.
