Liberia’s Pavilion at the ongoing Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, is gaining significant attention, drawing more than 80,000 visitors intrigued by the country’s rich cultural heritage and development potential.
During a Media engagement on Tuesday, May 26, 2025, Liberia’s former Culture Ambassador and Traditional Queen Julie Endee provided an update on Liberia’s participation in the Expo, emphasizing the Pavilion’s strategic focus on tourism, trade, and investment promotion.
Ambassador Endee highlighted that Liberia has successfully showcased its natural wealth across sectors such as mining, forestry, agriculture, and fisheries. Additionally, improved infrastructure and policy reforms aimed at attracting foreign direct investment were presented to potential global partners.
As part of the ongoing engagement, a series of flagship events have been announced, including the Women’s Forum, the Business and Investment Forum, and Liberia National Day celebrations.
Scheduled for August 24–25, 2025, the Women’s Forum will be held under the theme: “Connecting Women in the Global Space Per Excellence for an Inclusive Society”, with a focus on amplifying female voices and advancing gender inclusion as a tool for sustainable development. This event will also foster cultural diplomacy through collaboration with Japan’s Jellyfish Pavilion, known for its creative and artistic programming.
On August 27, the Liberia Pavilion will host a Business and Investment Forum at the Festival Station on the Expo site. The forum aims to foster strategic partnerships and spotlight Liberia as a viable destination for international investment. A key component of this event will center around Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), providing them with a platform to connect with global markets and learn from Japanese innovation in technology and sustainability.
The festivities will culminate in Liberia National Day celebrations on August 28, featuring a cultural parade involving children from Yao and Nikaho Cities, alongside Liberian performers. The day will close with a grand musical and cultural showcase at the Expo Arena, expected to draw over 1,000 guests.
Queen Endee noted that the events are aligned with President Joseph N. Boakai’s ARREST Agenda, particularly in promoting tourism, good governance, and private sector growth, while strengthening Liberia’s cultural presence on the global stage.
