MONROVIA – Select Liberian lawmakers are set for a capacity-building immersion in the United States, following a formal invitation from the U.S.-based consultancy firm, Washington & Madison, LLC.
The firm has invited members of the Liberian Legislature to participate in a dedicated Legislative Training Program scheduled for August 30 to September 6, 2026, according to a press release from the House’s Press Bureau issued Tuesday.
The intensive program aims to strengthen the core functions of Liberia’s legislature by exposing participants to American best practices. Key focus areas will include **lawmaking processes, committee operations, executive oversight, and modern constituent engagement.
To translate theory into practice, the agenda features interactive workshops, policy discussions, and study visits to U.S. legislative institutions and governance organizations in Washington, D.C.
In its proposal, Washington & Madison, which boasts extensive experience with international clients—particularly in Africa—expressed its readiness to collaborate closely with the Liberian Legislature on participant selection, customizing program content, and managing logistics.
The firm framed the training as a strategic investment in institutional development, transparency, and effective representation, aligning Liberia’s parliamentary practices with robust international democratic standards.
The next step rests with the Liberian House of Representatives. The Speaker is expected to review the formal proposal and nominate lawmakers for the overseas training opportunity.
