The Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) has announced that its 2025 Annual Convention will be held in Ganta City, Nimba County, bringing together legal minds from across the country to examine key issues affecting justice, public trust, and the nation’s evolving economic laws. The four-day gathering is scheduled for December 4–7, 2025, at the Wuo Garbe Tarppia Intellectual Hall, Peace Empire Hotel.

The official opening ceremony is set for Friday, December 5, at 10:30 a.m., under the theme: “Strengthening the Rule of Law: The Lawyer’s Role in Restoring Public Trust.” The event will be led by the LNBA National President, Cllr. Bornor M. Varmah, who is expected to rally the membership toward deeper engagement in promoting justice delivery and reinforcing public confidence in the legal system.

A major highlight of the convention will be the recognition of high-performing judges who have disposed of significant numbers of cases during 2025—an effort the Bar says is intended to acknowledge judicial efficiency and encourage improved service across the courts. The keynote address will be delivered by Cllr. Mark M. Marvay, Managing Partner at Beyond Law Chambers and former member of the LNBA National Executive Council.

The convention will blend formal deliberations with fraternity and social events designed to strengthen unity among lawyers and enhance professional collaboration. A central feature of this year’s gathering is the mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program, which will provide the ten credit hours required for all Counsellors-at-Law and Attorneys-at-Law for the 2025 professional year. The Bar has strongly encouraged its members to attend as part of their commitment to professional competence.

Among the key CLE topics are the introduction and implementation procedures of the Value Added Tax (VAT) Law of 2024, which replaces the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and ushers in significant changes to the Revenue Code and related regulations. The presentations on these reforms will be delivered by the legal team of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA). Another major session will review the Rules of Court, based on recommendations from a committee established by the Supreme Court.

Saturday, December 6, will feature a parade and sporting activities, continuing a longstanding LNBA tradition of balancing professional dialogue with social interaction.

The LNBA emphasized that the National Convention remains the highest decision-making organ of the Bar, convened annually to generate meaningful debate and direction on issues affecting the rule of law in Liberia. Members are therefore expected to participate in a professional and constructive atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the Association has announced the completion of the ground floor of its National Headquarters project along the Roberts International Airport highway. A full progress report on the project will be delivered during the gathering. The leadership expressed gratitude to all members and supporters who have contributed to the project’s advancement.
