The Liberia National Police (LNP) has charged a 51-year-old man, Sylvester Langal, with multiple criminal offenses in connection with an alleged investment fraud that reportedly cost a Paynesville resident over US$9,000.
According to a police charge sheet issued on January 7, 2026, by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Crime Services Department, Langal has been charged with criminal facilitation, criminal conspiracy, criminal solicitation, and theft of property, in violation of Liberia’s Revised Penal Law.
The LNP in the same vein forwarded the case to court for trial as part of ongoing efforts to combat fraud and protect the public from deceptive investment schemes.
Police said the case arose from a complaint filed by Mr. Earl F. Enders, who reported that he was deceived and defrauded of US$9,245 on November 3, 2025, through an entity known as Wealth Sharing Investment Group Liberia Limited.
Investigators disclosed that Langal, acting together with an alleged accomplice, Kabeh Jallah, persuaded the complainant to invest in the company with promises of high commissions on deposits. Mr. Enders reportedly made an initial deposit of US$330, followed by additional deposits totaling US$9,245.
The police investigation further revealed that the complainant was informed he would only be able to withdraw his funds after 40 days. However, after making the deposits, his account on the platform was allegedly blocked, preventing any withdrawal of funds.
Following the investigation, police concluded that the investment group appeared to be a bogus entity, and that the complainant’s funds were unlawfully obtained through coordinated actions by the suspects.
Langal was arrested on January 5, 2026, at Go-Ba Chop, Paynesville, by officers of the Special Investigation Unit. His alleged accomplice, Kabeh Jallah, has also been charged and is expected to face court proceedings.
