Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has threatened to arrest Mulbah Morlu, Alvin Wesseh, and Archie Pompom—if they fail to report for questioning about violent incidents during Wednesday’s protest.

In a statement released late Wednesday, December 17, 2025, the LNP ordered the three to report immediately to the Central Police Headquarters. “The Liberia National Police has identified Mr. Mulbah Morlu, Mr. Alvin Wesseh, and Archie Pompom as persons of interest in relation to the violent incidents,” the statement said. It emphasized that the request is part of a “professional, evidence-based, and impartial investigation.”

The LNP warned/ warning was clear: “Failure to comply with this lawful request will compel the Liberia National Police to exercise its statutory authority to effect arrest, consistent with due process and the laws of the Republic of Liberia.” The police condemned acts of violence that marred the otherwise lawful protest, stating they “undermined public order, endangered lives and property, and diverted the protest from its lawful and peaceful purpose.”

“Violence, intimidation, and destruction of property are inconsistent with democratic engagement and will not be tolerated,” the statement read. While reaffirming the right to peaceful assembly, the LNP stressed that violence is unacceptable. Police spokesperson DCP Cecelia G. Clarke said the investigation is proceeding with a commitment to due process. The LNP also urged the public to remain calm and act responsibly during the festive season.
