NIMBA COUNTY – Investigators with the Liberia National Police (LNP) in Nimba County are now better equipped to solve crimes and secure convictions. This follows a rigorous two-day in-service training focused on advanced criminal investigation techniques.
The training was held in Tappita City from October 15-16. It assembled commanders from the Crime Services Division (CSD) from across the county.
The goal was to enhance their investigative skills and professional knowledge. Themed “Investigative Response to Issues for Successful Prosecution,” the program combined classroom theory with hands-on practical exercises. This approach gave officers real-world experience to address common field challenges.
County CSD Superintendent Emmanuel Wonkpanluo Gruasie led and facilitated the training.
He emphasized the need for a meticulous, systematic approach to building cases. Superintendent Gruasie stressed that evidence must be identified, collected, preserved, and analyzed with precision. He stated this is the only way to build a case that can withstand legal scrutiny in court. “Law enforcement agencies must be strategic,” Gruasie told the investigators. “A robust case is built on a foundation of impeccable evidence.
This is what leads to successful prosecution.”
He urged his officers to respond to criminal incidents promptly and effectively. Proper gathering of all facts and evidence, he noted, is crucial for prosecutors to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The superintendent outlined the key elements of a successful investigative response. These included immediate crime scene management, thorough evidence collection, and witness identification and interviews.
Other critical components are proper documentation, inter-agency coordination, and strict adherence to legal protocols. Gruasie also highlighted the importance of intelligence analysis and meticulous case file preparation. He concluded that by adopting this comprehensive method, investigators significantly increase their chance of securing convictions. This, in turn, delivers long-awaited justice for victims.
Superintendent Gruasie closed the session with a charge to his team. He urged every investigator in Nimba County to approach their work with renewed passion and dedication. He reminded them that every case deserves serious attention. Every investigation must be conducted thoroughly, following established procedures and the law.
