Rakel Single Mother’s Association Inc. (RSMA), a non-profit and non-governmental organization in Liberia has officially launched its membership form draft and opened its office for all women, especially single mothers to address the challenges faced by Liberian women and children, particularly regarding self-support and ways to lift them into a prosperous future.
For women, especially single mothers, economic empowerment remains prime to their survivability and it is from this backdrop that RSMA formally opened its Caldwell office to the public on Saturday, May 31, 2025. The office is situated at Tumb’s-Up Junction, opposite Tiktok Bar, Liberia.
Established on the 5th of April, 2024. Rakel Single Mother’s Association works to empower single mothers and children, fostering a sense of diversity through skills development in an integrated, prosperous, and peaceful environment in Liberia, driven by its own citizens. Mrs. Satta R. Hall, the Head of Rakel Single Mother’s Association Inc. (RSMA), says the organization aims to contribute to education, peace, human progress, women and youth empowerment, and social welfare.
As a charitable organization founded by a group of passionate Liberian women and men, Mrs. Satta R. Hall informed journalists that the organization’s objective dwells on improving the lives of single mothers and children who are exposed to the danger of health and sanitation, strengthening women and to take care of their children and utilizing the God-given talents, make single mothers and other vulnerable woman productive, that will improve their economic conditions.
RSMA’s objective also focuses on engaging the professional services of single mothers where possible to eradicate poverty, injustice, disease, and suffering in COuntries and throughout Liberia and educating and engaging the public concerning the causes, effects, and means of mitigation and eradication of such inequality, poverty, injustice, diseases, and suffering of single mothers.

According to Mrs. Satta R. Hall, Rakel Single Mother’s Association aims to improve the lives of single mothers and children who are exposed to health risks, as well as to enhance sanitation, improve their economic conditions, and build their human resource capacity. She emphasized that RSMA envisions women in Liberia as literate, decision-makers, and violence-free.
Transforming Lives Within One Year
Just one year after its establishment, the Rakel Single Mother’s Association Inc. (RSMA) has already made a profound difference in the lives of struggling mothers, as demonstrated by heartfelt testimonies from beneficiaries like Fata Kamara and others. The organization has provided crucial support in areas ranging from children’s education to emotional and financial relief, offering a lifeline to women facing immense challenges.
Fata Kamara, a mother of five, shared her journey of abandonment and hardship before finding RSMA. She revealed how her children’s father left her for another woman after their first three children were born, with his mother declaring she was “not the rightful person” for him. The pain and uncertainty of raising her children alone weighed heavily on her until a friend encouraged her to join the association.
Since becoming a member, Kamara has experienced a theatrical shift in her circumstances. “I feel good—it’s helpful. It educates people, eases your worries, and has done so much for me,” she said. She recalled times when she felt overwhelmed by despair, constantly worrying about how to overcome her struggles. Now, with RSMA’s support, she has found renewed hope and stability.
Grateful for the transformation in her life, Kamara praised the organization, saying, “For now, I give God the praise for this organization.” She urged other single mothers to join, emphasizing that RSMA offers not just immediate relief but also future opportunities. “Let them come and join us. We have other things coming, including trade,” she added, hinting at upcoming economic empowerment programs.
Kamara is not alone in her praise. Numerous other women have attested to RSMA’s impact, sharing how the association has provided essential resources, emotional support, and a sense of community. Many highlighted how the organization has helped them secure their children’s education, a critical need for single mothers striving to break the cycle of poverty.
Despite these successes, the women emphasized that more support is needed. They called on the government and private citizens to extend additional assistance to RSMA, enabling it to reach even more vulnerable mothers. The association’s work, they argued, is not just about individual survival but about strengthening entire families and communities.
As RSMA opens its members, the women hope that increased awareness and support will allow it to expand its programs, ensuring that no single mother has to face her struggles alone.
