-Prominent Nigerian Chief to Begin Agricultural Investment in Liberia

Prominent Nigerian Chief Tonye Nathan has expressed strong interest in investing in Liberia’s Agriculture sector during an official visit to the country. Chief Tonye arrived in Monrovia on Thursday, February 5, 2026, and was warmly received by the Liberia Crusaders for Peace (LCP) and other dignitaries.
In a media briefing upon arrival at Roberts International Airport, Chief Tonye revealed he is in discussions with the government for a potential investment. “I am also talking with the government so that I can come in to invest in Liberia. Hopefully, we will start an investment here soon,” he stated.
He acknowledged being informed of Liberia’s stable conditions, particularly its peace and security. “I hear good news. There is peace,” Chief Tonye told journalists at RIA.
The prominent Nigerian businessman is a 2025 designee of the Golden Image Award, a topnotch National Awards held annually by the Liberia Crusaders for Peace.
His visit was motivated by a desire to explore investment opportunities, attend the coronation of Bishop Paye Bagnon and personally receive his Golden Image Award after being unable to attend last year’s ceremony.
Chief Tonye also held a fruitful meeting with Agriculture Minister Dr. Alexander Nuetah on Thursday, reaffirming his commitment to start an investment here.
Making a brief statement after the meeting, Minister Nuetah disclosed that he has been holding discussions with Chief Tonye Nathan and that the prospects of potential agri-investment look good.
